Takeoff
With Maxwell Systems QuestMX Earthwork, you can measure your cut and fill quantities in record time. Simply place your plans on a digitizer board and trace them using a stylus pen, once for existing elevations and once for proposed elevations, to generate accurate cut and fill quantities. No calculators, protractors, or slide rules are needed.
If you have CAD files or data from field instruments like a laser total station or GPS, you can skip the tracing step altogether and import your takeoff information directly into QuestMX Earthwork. You can also send data such as staking reports from these programs into your field instrument and take the device to the jobsite to do your staking.
QuestMX Earthwork's Takeoff screen can handle multiple sheets, works with any known scale, and allows you to choose Imperial or metric units. Getting a sitework job right means not only knowing how much material you'll be moving, but exactly what type. In QuestMX Earthwork you can easily enter your boring locations and information so you know your quantities by type of material. It goes without saying how important it is to know precisely what materials you're dealing with when it comes to creating a bid.
QuestMX Earthwork makes it easy to perform a takeoff of any special construction area, like a building pad, retention pond, or parking island. You can then raise or lower the elevations and strip or replace topsoil as needed.

Verification
You can verify your work with the Section view, which gives you a cross section view of elevations between any two points on the site. This feature also enables you to see both existing and proposed elevations at the same time, giving you an at-a-glance idea of the amount of cut or fill needed for any section of your site. Generate profiles of your site perimeter or the perimeter of any special construction area with ease.
The Grid view shows your elevations and cut and fill amounts in a grid format. This means you can choose any pre-defined area to view, such as a special construction area, a perimeter, a phase, a retention pond or a parking lot, and the corresponding cut and fill totals will instantly display.
Perhaps the most exciting way to verify your site is with the 3-D View. This gives you a dynamic, realistic aerial view of your existing and proposed elevations. Rotate the view to see your site from practically any angle, zoom in for greater detail, or zoom out to take in the entire site at once. You can even take a virtual helicopter ride to survey the site at any altitude or speed you wish using the Fly-by feature.

Summary
To see a complete breakdown of your import/export quantities at any time, just look at the Summary screen. Breakdowns are displayed by area and layer and include the measured quantity, swell and yield factors, and adjusted total quantity.

Machine Control
With Maxwell Systems™ QuestMX Earthwork™, users can experience significant benefits with our latest laser, GPS, and machine control applications. QuestMX Earthwork integrates directly with machine control systems by exporting data in the required file formats, including TTM (Trimble), TN3 (Topcon), and new AutoCAD exports for Triangulation, Areas, and Contours.
QuestMX Earthwork users have the ability to pinpoint exact sub-grade areas, contours, or the entire site for staking, layout, and machine control. These features give contractors more control of projects, eliminating the time and money otherwise spent on third-party software packages or on hiring a staking crew every time a change is made to the site.
