Success Stories
Bryant Management
Bryant Management began managing properties in 1981, focusing on small rental houses in Vermont. In 1986, the company entered the market of managing recreational vehicle (RV) parks. Bryant Management relocated to Houston, Texas and continued to buy RV parks as well as several apartment communities. Today, this successful property management company owns and manages 13 RV parks located in Florida, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and Mississippi.
Managing Growth with Industry-Specific Software
Although RV parks were initially “Mom & Pop” businesses, they are increasingly
popular with investors. And with many property management companies
buying multiple parks, companies like Bryant Management have their hands full
managing more than a dozen properties with a centralized accounting system.
Andrea Bryant, part owner and business manager of Bryant Management,
shared some of the reasons that prompted her company to upgrade its property
management software.
“We had used a software program for years but it was not compatible with
Windows XP, and the developer was no longer in business,” says Bryant. “In
addition, it was not networked and we took turns on the computer. Needless to
say, as we grew this became a problem.”
Challenges
Bryant Management needed comprehensive loan amortization and financial accounting
to manage its properties with efficiency.
Solution
Maxwell Systems Colonial was chosen due to its industry-specific strengths such as
loan amortization and balloon payments.
Results
Today Bryant Management streamlines operations through a software solution and services that meet its specific property management requirements.Absolute Necessity: Loan Amortization
After looking at many different software solutions, Bryant chose Maxwell Systems™ Colonial™ primarily because of its comprehensive loan amortization capabilities.
“The loan amortization feature is a must for any organization paying mortgages,” says Bryant. “I was extremely impressed with Colonial. It was way more advanced than I expected.”
Bryant listed other key features and capabilities that impacted her decision such as a “simple, straightforward process for checking,” balloon payments, variable rates, one-time vendors, blank checks, and MICR-encoded checks.
“Colonial is packed with features,” Bryant says. “And yet, compared to other
products, the cost is reasonable.”
Generating 1099s in Five Minutes: Year-End Processing the
Easy Way
In her first year of using Colonial for year-end processing, Bryant discovered that she was able to save an immense amount of time.
“I expected to be typing 1099s for two weeks. Instead it took me less than five minutes to generate all my miscellaneous 1099s,” says Bryant. “We are able to accomplish a lot more in less time.”
Technology Partnership in Action: Supporting the Solution
Equally as important as the time-saving features of Colonial, Bryant places a great deal of value on the services she has received from Maxwell Systems. From the time of implementation to the ongoing support she receives, Bryant feels strongly about her experiences with online resources and with Maxwell Systems’ Customer Care team.
“I’m very impressed with the support team—the support I have received is top notch,” Bryant says. “Even on non-critical issues, the response time is amazing.”
Bryant also gives strong marks for the support she receives from Maxwell Systems’ Customer Zone. The Customer Zone is an online resource that includes features such as the Answer Center: a knowledge base filled with more than 10,000 answers, or technical support articles.
“Besides finding answers, I’ve found many new ideas through those articles that will save us time,” Bryant says. “Although Colonial was up and running almost immediately, we are still learning something new daily from articles in the Customer Zone.”
As an example, Bryant tells how she recently learned that she could turn her signature into a true type font and include it on checks.
“We won’t have to stamp checks again,” she explains. “Whenever my people have a break in the action, I have told them to browse the articles, too.”
Bryant also appreciates that as a customer, she has a voice in the ongoing development of Colonial. Maxwell Systems listens to customer feedback and uses this critical information in the evolution of its software solutions.
